Seat Belt Rebuilding
#4
I used Seat Belt Solutions
www.seatbeltsolutions.com
to rebuild the retractors and change the webbing to yellon on my 87 Vette. Beautiful work, 1 week in their shop and it was on the ride home. I am very pleased with the company and will use them to rebuild the belts in my 73 I am now doing a body off resto on.

Seat belt solutions wanted $600 to restore mine. They could not do anything else. The woman I spoke could not understand why I did not want to spend $600 on restoring my seatbelts.
Ssnake Oyl wanted a little less, but also had single retractor sets for $300 in dark brown. This is what I got. It put the tip up by my shoulder insted of down low where it got eaten by the seat back hinge. The guy I spoke with at SO was very helpful and helped me choose the single retractor belts.
I reused my original belts that attach to the tranny tunnel. SSnake included new hardware and that was great. I dyed black covers to match my dark brown interior.
Depends on how original you want to be and how deep your wallet is.

All I need for mine is the return spring but nobody will sell me the spring. They all said send them in and we can rebuild them for you. I can't afford that. If anyone ever finds a place to get the coil spring please let me know.

What I did on my 77 seat belts was purchased my exact replacement webbing from snyke oil and since my retractors were in perfect shape and just the webbing faded and frayed from age I had my local automotive reupholsterer fully extend the belts and splice the new webbing at the base of the original belts. You cant tell them apart from the original factory belts. He only charged me $25 dollars for the pair plus the cost of the webbing from snyke oil.

I don't want to pay $600 to rebuild my seat belts. Corvette Central claims $219 + parts to refurbish 1972 belts. My belts are not that bad. They mostly only need new webbing. They function fine.
Has anyone used CC's service? I've always had good dealings with them in the past.
