Default Did the 77 have a fusible link down at the starter wiring?

Went to order some 77 doc rebuild wiring diagrams but he wont have them for several more months. So can anyone please tell me if there are any fusible links in the red wires that connect at the starter. Besides the ignition wire and black ground, I currently have 2 red wires that were soldered togther on to a single eyelet. This just does not look correct. Thank you.

There is also a connector behind and to the right of the distributor. Starter Extension harness. If the connectors in there get corroded and lose contact, it's just like you popped the usible link.

Default Could be Alan's car...

Hi Paul,
The compliments go to whoever owns that car and first published that picture.
It's a good picture of the fusible links so I kept it.

10 years ago and 40,000 miles ago when I replaced the motor it was that clean but not any more. Just a week ago my car developed a miss so I decided to change the plugs and wires and there is plenty of dirt under there now. Changed out the drivers side and then did #8 first then #6 and this is what I found.

Regards, Pete.

Thanks for all the pics guys, I am going to have to pull back on the plastic sheath they are in later today and investigate. I dont currently have any fusible links down there at all. Just 2 reds into one eyelet, the ignition wire and a ground. Looks like I will be adding some. After reading about all the wiring fires, I deff want them.
