I sold my C4, and am considering a 70 coupe. Was originally a 454, and still is, but is not original motor. Auto trans, factory ac, everything works, in pristine condition.
What is the market price on this?
Thanks in advance.
Joe
Joe,
I bought my 1971 LS5 this past winter. Although it did not have the original engine installed, it did come with the car. It had a new crate 454 under the hood. I financed the car and my credit union used the information directly from http://www.nada.com classic cars section. It will take you right through everything. Funny thing...it doesn't ask if the engine is original...just if it's an original big block car (it adds 30% extra value). Hope this helps.

Keep one thing in mind it is very important that it is an orginal BB car, any-one can throw in a BB in a SMB Vette. A local Vette dealer told me the BB Vin# is worth at least $15,000 the rest of the car can be counterfited but the Vin# and its history can not. That is why before 1971 there are more L88 vettes then GM produced. Mid years are a real joke, buyer look-out
Thanks all. It is supposed to have been a 454 car from the factory. I'll be bringing a friend who knows what to look for to be sure. Sounds like it's a pretty good deal. Either way, I hope to be joining this section of the forum soon!
I agree with you...anyone can do that. Problem with the 1971 Vette is that there is no engine code in the VIN #. I was able to confirm through some detective work with help of the administrator of the http://www.mortec.com web site. :yesnod:
Someone posted a few telltale clues that separated the big block from the small block frame wise...I shoulda copied and pasted them for future reference.
