1980 engine dies

1980 engine dies

Something very strange the engine dies when I close the hood...won't start pop the hood and bam fires right up....I'm gonna assume it electrical but where...what would ground out enough to kill the engine???

check the wires around the HEI.the wire for the under hood lamp runs by there,mite be a bare wire grounding out.or check for any bare wires by the left hood hinge .

Is there an alarm switch under the hood on the 1980 as there is on earlier C3's?

I noticed the drive side loom of spark plug wire was broke, checked the wires non where burnt...lifted up and zip tied it back in place and all was fine...so ill look clooser at the wires around the hei, also clipped the wire around the hinge because the neg was already cut...so im thinkin its the light wires causing the problem..
