502 cam in a 427
Has anyone used the ZZ 502 factory hyd roller cam in a stock 427 engine, and if so, what did you think about it....................power, drivability, sound, etc?
Here is a link that lists specs for the cam:

502 cam won't work in a mark IV Block...the cam snout on the 502 is different...
You can use a Mark IV cam in the 502 block but you have to mill the timing cover to give the cam button clearance.

Sorry, GDaina, but you're wrong on this one.
ALL GM blocks have bosses (most drilled) to use the Gen 6 cam retainer plate. All you need to do is use the correct timing set since the holes are closer together on the Gen 6. Matter of fact, I know several builders who have stopped using Mark IV type hydraulic roller cams and gone straight to Gen 6 - no cam button, etc., in all their Mark IV builds.

I am talking about the BBC 396 - 454 cams produced from 1965 - ? Designated as Mark IV engines
I do have a spare 427 block will take a look for the holes.....if I'm wrong then I'm wrong....

I did make the Mark IV roller work in the 502 block....till one of the roller imploded...since I liked that cam so much I just had it ground for the retaining plate

The cams WILL interchange if you use the correct timing set.
