I believe Alan means headlight switch. The wiper switch has not vacuum connections going to it.

Default wiper door opens on it's own

I have a 1969 vette and the wiper door opens on it's own and won't close. Would this be a bad solenoid

Hi js,
Does the door close when you shut the engine off?
If not…..
Have you checked the wiper door over-ride switch that is located under the steering column? It's the switch to the right.
When the stalk on the switch is pulled down it door open and remains open under all conditions. The wiper switch has no effect on it.
Perhaps you can eliminate that as a possible cause of your dancing wiper door.
Regards,
Alan

The left switch opens the headlight doors and the right switch opens the wiper door.
The doors remain open until the stalk is pushed up.

Default wiper door

Yes, I have checked the switch. It does not open the wiper door when pulled. The switch for the lights open and close properly, but the one for the wiper, does not function.

I use the override switch when it's misty out and the wipers don't have to be on all the time.

On my long list of mods is to make a timer circuit for delayed wipers (I'm an electronics engineer). I have all the stuff just not the time and it's low on the priority list.

It would really help if you would only play in 1 thread.

yes, tried the stalk, does not work. When the car is turned off, the wiper doors remains open. I have to manually close the door, but as soon as i start the car, the wiper door opens.

Default what did I connect wrong?

Followed all the procedures, diagrams etc. Now when I start the engine the wiper door opens... Wipers work well, but the door stays open.
Override does not do the trick. Can someone please help me out here?
Thanks in advance
Robert

Sorry I did not see there was a second page with the same question.

Hi RV,
Are the wipers going to the 'park' position at the wiper stop in the center of the wiper bay?

The wipers need to do that so the lever that activates/closes the plunger on the wiper safety valve sends the vacuum signal to the wiper door relay to close the door.
Regards,
Alan

The lever on the transmission depressing the plunger.

Thank you Allan.
Yes they do. If I stop the engine the door stays open and I can push it back by hand. Can't do that if the engine runs.
