Default Valve Covers, 78 L-82, roller rockers

Hey folks...

I get tons of great tips from you all, wonderful to be a part of this community.

Can anyone offer me an opinion on these valve covers? I got a good deal on a set of them, and know they are not the proper ones for my car....but, the cheap chrome ones that are on it have to go.

The question is, will these fit? They're GM Part # 474207 and 474208. My car is a 78 L-82 with Crane Roller rockers.

I'll do a fitment tomorrow after work hopefully, unless I hear from y'all tonight. If I can, I'll post pictures, not sure if I see how to though.

All the best,
Sean

Thanks Brian!
If they fit okay, I figured I could get them to shine nicely, that cast aluminum will do just about anything for you.

Felpro offers a thick valve cover gasket and could satisfy the height requirement for aftermarket rockers....just glue them into the covers with 3M weather stripping glue.....or just double them

Great thinking, Ironcross. I'm not sure if I'll have a clearance issue or not, noticed that these covers are usually sold for up to and including 1977. I'm hoping that the only reason is the 78's were painted black between the ribs, and that the dimensions are the same.
Felpro gasket is a terrific idea if I only need a little room...

I had those covers on my car for a long time. They were originally used on early '70's LT-1 motors. Beautiful covers but I had to change them out when I put the roller rockers on. No way I could get them to fit over the roller rockers. They have oil drippers inside which interfere. You could grind them off, but I'm not sure that would be enough.

Damn.....I saw those in there and wasn't sure what they were. Makes sense, focus the oil in the right place. But. Damn.
I guess I'm about to find out if this guy has a return policy...

Default covers

jegs sells metal spacers that will clear all roller rockers , you just need to use 2 sets of gaskets. hope this helps.

I have stock cast aluminum l-82 covers over 1.6 scorpions with two felpro gaskets glued together. Did not grind anything off. Try-em if you've already bought-em.
