I'm dry fitting a TrueFlex bumper to a 75 convertable. The two top corners are a bit off. I read in the instructions that came with the bumper that you can cut the inside area of the bumper to allow the bumper to fit better. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any pics or docs on this? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Mine was the same way. I glued my bumper on. Scratched off the gel coat, added epoxy/mat, ground into shape, added epoxy filler for final contour.

Wow, Thank you so much. The exact spots you filled are the issues with my bumper. What brand materials did you use? Thank you again for replying, awesome pictures.
Epoxy? I though you had to use polyester resin on Tru Flex bumper covers? I cut mine. No big deal. I had to add about 1/2" to one corner of my front bumper cover. Rear was good. No real filling, just a bit of sanding. The more effort you put in to the fitting, the better the result. Tedious, but well worth it.

Epoxy: West System products (www.westmarine.com); Mat: West Systems or any mat where the label states it can be used with epoxy or Polyester resin (most autoparts stores).
I too will be putting on a tru flex bumper, hopefully it will fit better. My question is how do you get the top retainer nuts on? Theres no way I'm going to get my hands between the angle iron between the gas tank and bumper. Would it be possible to cut out the angle iron with a saws all ? Or will this destroy the integrity of the frame. Am I going to have to enlist the help of the little kids in the nieborhood to put them on? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
