Good morning. When you install a roller Cam, you have to install the gear on the bottom of the factory distributor. The factory makes this gear, which I have used,. If you have a Mallory, or one of the other Distributor, do you have to change those Gears also??? Thanks I Appreciate. Gene

I am using an engine that asks for a 'mellonized' gear. I don't know if this is what is required for your application.

To get some info I went to the manufactures website, MSD to look for some answers. Maybe Mallory's site might be able to tell what is needed.

Depending on what cam you have, you may not need a special gear.
If you have a cast iron (SADI) core, or a billet cam with a pressed on cast distributor gear, then a normal gear can be run on the distributor.
If you plan to use a billet cam core (with a billet gear) then you will most likely need to change gears on a Mallory distributor.
