Default Re-build on the cheap..

Hey guys,.. sold my 76..some years ago but was thinking about it the other day.. I thought I'd share some ways I saved a few bucks when I had mine.. ( this is not for you guys that are purest,..OEM only !!! )

If you look real close at the third pic below.. those are not 76 vette tail light lens... Those are early 70s Camaro lens cut out of the rear light assemble.. At the time when I bought the car (paid $1,500).. And new lens where $350 each.. I wasn't going to pay more for (4) lens than I paid for the entire car.. They are a perfect fit..and I think they look better than the 76 vette lens..
PS..the body shop next to my shop,, had the back clip of the 70s Camaro..and gave me the tail light assembles,..so lens were FREE..

Hey guys,... it was just the back clip of a Camaro. For some reason I always thought it was an 84'.. Let me look around and see if I can find the car I pulled them from...

Yep,... early 70's... Found some new ones on flee-bay fairly cheap.. ($150 for the set)
I'm thinking maybe I got them in 1984, maybe that's where the 84 came from

Hey guys,.. you might also like the back story of this car... This was my buddy Chuck's car.. Chuck had lots of girl friends.. One of them got really pissed off at him.. She took a 10 penny nail to the car.. When Chuck saw the car.. he just walked away from it.. The car sat in his driveway from some years...with the widows down.. About once every year I would say to him... "Chuck why don't you sell me the car".. He would reply " Na.. I'm going to fix it"... So after so many years,.. floor pans rotted out. he sold me the car for $1,500.. I'm thinking it only had something like 20K on the clock..
