so i finally broke down and ordered the TKO 500 5 speed swap for my 77 from corvettecentral. its the kit going from auto to manual, iam hoping for any input from people that have done this swap before, i have access to a lift and i have a pretty good mechanical knowledge. if anyone has any little hints or tips to help me out with this swap that would be awesome. thanks in advance

I just put one in my '69 but it was already a manual trans. Install was pretty straight forward. The only issues I ran into was a need to open up the hole in the tunnel to clear the shifter, I needed to remove about 1/8 inch from the forward edge and passenger side. I also had issues with the rubber trans mount, took three tries to get one that was good. I bought my kit from Keisler and they provided good support.

One issue you may encounter is the lack of a tapped hole on your engine block for the clutch z bar pivot. I installed a sbc 400 with my TKO 500 and found there was no hole as the engine was originally mounted to an automatic.
