t56 swap
hi
i have corvette 78 350 ( stroke to 383 ) and m\t t10 (i think)
i wanted to swap to t56
i can get t56 from lt1 with bell housing and clutch fork and shifter .
can i use my clutch and the flywheel ?
the bell housing will bolt on to the engine ?
what is the best way to do the clutch , hyd or menual like the original ?
i need more parts to the swap ?

If you don't go with the conversion kit I mentioned and use the T56 bellhousing, both bellhousings will bolt to your engine, you will need a conversion flywheel because the T56 has to bolt to your 2 piece rear main seal (the LT1 T56 is originally for a 1 piece rear main seal), plus you will need a clutch disk for the T56.
Go with a hydraulic clutch.
Here's a thread I did on my LT1 T56 swap.

You'll need a different flywheel. You could use a stock LT1 if you had a one piece rear main seal, but if your running your original block you'll need something like this. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ctf-700107
Bellhousing should bolt right up.
I think you'll need to use the LT1 clutch too. If you get a replacement clutch from Autozone it comes with an LT4 pressure plate, and you can replace the clutch disc with a high performance version if you wish.
Not sure if you can use a a mechanical linkage, but I would upgrade to hydraulic while you're at it. A 1985 chevy truck master cylinder has the correct angle at the firewall, and you can get a stainless hose with the special ends that fit the LT1 slave cylinder from Speedway. I think I used a 30", as the stock hose was too short.
