Default 68 vert steering column bracket/cowl brace

I purchased sadle bracket and brace rods, so far so good, rebuilt steering column, thanks Jim Shea. My 68 upper steering column bracket does not have the attchment points for the braces, I don't belive the 69 thru 76 upper bracket will work? I am considering just fabricating attachment points to my original bracket which is one heck of a chunk of what apperears to be a cast iron, any experiance out there?

Thanks Mike

See this thread on 68s. My early 68 seemed to be missing them too.
Might have to fab something up.

Does this scan help to explain the problem?

Bits are turning fabrication in progress, working out a couple of clearance issues, I'll post photos soon.

Check the AIM page for a date for the diagram. The early 68 convertibles did not have the braces; they were added as a running change.

When was the cast iron support changed to the two spot welded metal pieces? Lou.
