just started making this noise

New here. Just started making this noise the other day but not very long and went away. Changed the oil and it came back. Holds 40 psi oil pressure same as it always has. Vortec heads, 1.6 ratio harlan sharp rockers and a stock cam. If i adjust any rocker it seems to stop for a second, then back again. It ran fine all last summer.

Maybe collapsed lifter??

You dont seem to have much oil up top either. The various SB i've owned over the years, made a god awful mess if i ran them without a rocker cover..

As above, my engine bay would have been covered in oil in that short time.

Are you sure you have enough oil in there? Blocked oil ways? Bad rocker adjustment?

Sounds like a collapsed lifter to me too. It even looked like #1 exhaust was the tapper. Push on it with a hammer handle and if it changes tone, that's it!

Either a valve too tight or an exhaust leak. I am betting on the exhaust

I was thinking collapsed lifter too. And now that you mention it, it did used to cover my engine bay with oil when i ran it wit a cover off. Today i started it and there was no noise. Sounds like its time for a cam upgrade.
