my 70 is falling on it face
I was out this morning for a ride with my 3 year old and she says Daddy pass that car. I drop it into 3rd and nail it. At 3800 rpm the car falls on it face. Its a 350 350HP 4speed. The Carb was done my Lars a few years back and has also ran great. I live in Fl and it was pretty hot out and I had a 1/4 tank of gas. I tried a few more times to jump on it and the same thing. Ingition in a Petronix Ignitor II and coil. Timing is set at 34 degrees. Any thoughts?

When is the last time you cleaned the carb? Could maybe be a plugged airbleed, might be worth trying to spray some carb cleaner down the bleeds.

Could be 100 things, was this the first time you noticed it, have you nailed the gas recently and it was OK ? Clogged fuel filter comes to mind

Have nailed it many times and ran fine. Car has about 2000 miles since frame off and everything was replace. Tank, lines ETC. I am going to take it out this week when its not so hot and see if it happens again

** checked local laws on child restraint **
Didn't know law changed but it says for two seater, I'll have to use the "rear facing" method on the front seat (that's no fun).

I recall that both my kids were out of the rear-facing 5-point harness seats sometime during their 2's. Their feet started hitting the seatback, so we turned it around and got them 5-point harness front-facing seats.
I have to admit, putting that type of seat in the 'Vette would be a PITA. To make it easier, perhaps you could put a LATCH point somewhere in the luggage area...I'm sure the NCRS would understand...

If he has a Q-jet he does have an enrichment valve which performs the same function as the Holley power valve. And it's very possible the valve is sticking. This valve is essentially a spring loaded piston that is pulled down by manifold vacuum. When vacuum drops as the throttle opens the valve pops up and raises the main metering rods to allow more fuel flow. I do agree that it sounds like a fuel starvation issue or secondaries/air door not opening properly. The hazards of having a car that isn't driven regularly.

What is the best way to check the enrichment valve?
