1969 350 spark plugs...(NGK/Denso spark plugs)

The last plugs I used for my 350 iron heads were NGK VR45. No problems with them. They also happen to be short enough to fit with headers.
#6
the V power plug part no is XR5 stock no 3332
#7
Used to use Denso U-grooves in all of my vehicles. Always had good results. Stopped because they became difficult to find. Now with the INet, I suppose they should be locatable again.

The next [and probably LAST] set of plugs to go into my C3 will be NGK "Irridium" plugs. Those puppies will last about 100,000 miles without any need for cleaning or adjustment....if your induction and ignition systems are "up to snuff".
The old idea of a certain brand of sparkplug being "best" in a certain brand of car is PASSE' and out of tune with reality. Find a plug that does what it is supposed to do--FOR A LONG TIME-- and install them. With a plug that lasts 100K miles, then you can just forget them.
And, if you go to the trouble of putting all the radio noise shielding hardware on your engine, you DON'T want to change plugs any more than you have to!!!

Now i have 3 years experience in this spark plug case (car is really 300/350 ) .I have used basic/regular type different brands plugs Denso, NGK and AC Delco.
My test results are that Denso plugs are really the best what i have tried. These will work and work.
NGKs are really good too but not last in my car so long that Densos
Ac Delco's are clearly the in last place in my own experience.Instant problems start when using these.
I was planning to test Champion plugs but when Densos work so fine i think that i will keep those.
This is my own test and not trying to put down American brand(mexico made?)Just my experience in my case.Car needs perhaps professional tuning and new valve seals.

I would have bet that AC's would be about the worst. GM no longer makes ANY parts. All are purchased, and most from foreign makers. They no longer care about service part quality; they just want to make profit based on having part sold in a GM or ACdelco box.

I like the NKG Irridium plugs too. I ran a set in my old richly jetted LS-5. Visual comparison suggested they were doing a better good igniting the mixture than the AC plugs. The engine seemed to run smoother and stronger.
My 2 cents

I'll believe it when you show me the documentation (or list an appropriate website). I worked for GM for 40 years and in the earlier years, they were more prone to purchasing quality products. In the last 20 years...forget it; any old junk will do and the cheaper, the better. Make it overseas so that we [GM] aren't responsible and put it in a GM or ACdelco box (the BOX is made in USA--it even says so on the box!) so we [GM] can charge a premium.
So, I know that NGK irridium plugs are likely the best on the planet, and I know they already are a premium-cost produt with "NGK" on the side of the plug. I also know that GM [if they bought from NGK] would add another 'over-the-top' premium. Thus, there is no way a GM plug--made by NGK--would be affordable, when you can get the real thing for less.
I don't live in Missouri, but you will have to "show me" on this one.

BTW I have told this story before but I used to do work at the tonawanda plant until my employer switched us to Toyota camrys for company cars... last time I went there the guard signaled me to back up to the stop sign and then proceded to ignore me until I went inside and explained I was there to repair some equipment... I was then told I could not be let into the plant with my non union piece of ****... I explained it was a company car (GM cars are sold as tototas in japan BTW) but it didnt matter I then told him I had a dodge truck at home but it was made in mexico... I was told thats no problem, They dont care where its made as long as it union made. and they would rather leave their equipment down and lose productivity than let me in (With my American made non union car)
Somewhere along the line its became fine for the stuff to be made overseas or wherever as long as the union gets a piece of the pie but my toyota from kentucky is somehow a disgrace to the "American" auto workers... I just dont get it? that was the last time I bothered going there BTW even though I had been servicing stuff there for almost 15 years at the time.. They likely pay for someone to come in from out of state now... Its no wonder they had financial issues. I have a friend who works there and bought a korean made spark just so he had a "GM" vehicle to drive to work that wont get vandalized in the parking lot and they leave the tundra home...
stepping off soapbox now...

I can tell you that the guard's position was NOT one that was endorsed by division management. Hey, the guard was a Union guy, and he's the one who had to O.K. your entry.
That B.S. between Union & Management was one of the main reasons for GM's downturn. But, upper management was mostly focused on how to benefit themselves. Same was true of Union management. So, the employees and the customers drew the shorter straws. Far cry from GM of the 60's and before!
P.S. I think GM should have taken a different corporate name after the bankruptcy....GM Lite...
