All right forum members I have a dilemma. My 69 350/300 vette does not have the orig. carb. Lars and others have told me that, however it is a 350/350 so it is orig. to the 350 mtr. I have the opportunity to purchase a new 650 cfm Holley that will fit the intake. Do I do a little bubba work to make the Holley fit the filter etc, or send Quad to Lars. Please vote H or Q explantions are welcome. Thank you everyone
Lets see, gm spent untold millions of dollars, had hundreds of engineers, spent thousands of hours on r/d and used the carb on tens of millions of cars with excellent results. They worked great until bubba started screwing with them.
Stick with the Q and send it to Lars. My Lars rebuilt Q is still running perfect after 5 years. Can I be second in line for your Q if you go to the dark side?
Okay okay it seems like Q is winning in a landslide and everyone brings up points I did not consider so I am glad to get rid of this headache of choosing. Talking with Lars made me feel confident but just wanted to see what the forum thought, and they speak loud and clear. That's why I joined. Thank you
If you had a 'vette with no engine, or you bought it with a Holley installed by the previous owner or something, I'd say go with the Holley. I just like 'em. Easy to work with. However, if you have a Q-jet that runs well, keep it! No reason to get rid of it.
