1970 convertible, just acquired a hardtop. I want to cover it with vinyl. Which comes first the vinyl or the weatherstripping? Each way seems equally strange to me. I need to get this done soon. Thanks
Hi 7dS,
The AIM section, (CO7), for the auxiliary top has an additional sheet for the vinyl covering.
The drawings show, and the instructions indicate, the vinyl was glued to the fiberglass shell before anything else was done to the top.
The drawing has dimensions for how far the vinyl is to 'wrap', and also how the vinyl is to be 'notched', in certain places, so that the vinyl edge is under the trim pieces.
Vinyl covered tops look GREAT!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
