I could then sell the "used" tires. And by used I mean a total of 35 feet worth of driving. It really chaps my @$$ that I didn't think of this before I bought the tires and had them mounted and balanced. I was only concentrating on keeping the wheel diameter the same as before.
Rookie mistake.
All I'm saying is try it, what have you got to lose? Dragsters run larger diameters up front, right?

Congrats on your baby, btw. Neat avatar.

Default 18" Center Line Lazer ll's

I went with 18" Center Line Lazer ll's. 18"x 8" with 4" BS in front. 18" x 9.5" with 5" BS. in back. Tires are 255/45-ZR18 in front and 275/40-ZR18 in back. Stock TA's with relocated E-brake cable and VBP spring.

Sloethog you did not make a mistake. It looks that way is because your front tire has a slightly taller sidewall than in the rear. I'm sure you already know the C5-C7 corvettes use staggered wheels and the front tire has a slightly taller sidewall than the rear (usually +5mm) My vehicle has replica C6 wheels in C5 size 17x8.5 front, 18x9.5 rear and 245/45/17 front, and 275/40/18 rear. The first two pics were taken before I cut the front springs and the last three are after I cut the springs. I have not lowered the rear yet. These pics did not come out sharp like they are on my cell phone.

C6 Z06 replicas.

Required spacers, notched frame and modified trailing arms to keep the tires in the wheelwell.

18 x 8 front with Nitto 555 245/45ZR/18
18 x 9.5 rear with Nitto 555 285/40ZR/18

It stopped raining just long enough to get my new TT II's put on and snap a quick picture. It's so humid the camera lens fogged over.

Hey,, you guys that are changing out the wheels. I like the look of the stock wheels for my '78 L82 but they need replacing as they do not balance out well due to being somewhat out of round. Anybody got any GOOD wheels they want to let go? Close to South Carolina?

Default Modern Z06 on C3

So I have a opportunity to pick up a set of Z06 17/18" wheels to use on my 80 C3. Has anyone tried this swap? Will they fit?

Original Owner wanted slots, but could'nt get them from the factory. So he had these 15 X 8,5's put on by the dealership back in 79 when he bought it new. They're the whole reason I bought the car. Won't be changing a thing.
Car was stolen in 84 and recovered in pieces somewhere around 92.
What he got back included all four wheels, the original motor and transmission, the majority of all body parts minus the hood, and various odds and ends.
The missing chassis was "Upgraded" with a 1980 frame and 3.08 Dana 44.
As the second owner I've rebuilt the whole suspension with :
Prothane bushing kit,Front and rear.
9 leaf spring,
Ball joints,
Adjustable strut rods,
wrapped the slots in 255/60 15 Bridgestones.
Changed the 3.08's back to the original 3.55:1 ratio to correct the speedo, and give it a little more snap on these mountain roads.

Maybe not so much an upgrade. Moreover just securing the old technic to last the next 35 years.
Drives like a champ.
