Share Your C3 Upgraded Wheel/Tire Combo's

might not be the right place to ask, or maybe not phrasing it correctly ..BUT, what's the biggest meat I can stuff under a '80 without major mods. I've read that relocating the brake cable bracket helps a lot, what about offset trailing arms? Is there anything else that needs to be done when installing offset arms? like shorter spring?
I absolutely love these rims and this look
I absolutely love these rims and this look
if email the picture, they may have the specs of wheel/tire combo.
I ordered a set from them for my C5 several years ago and loved them!
On a C3 I’ve seen 275’s and 285’s. Offset trailing arms help build a gap. I went with 19” wheels with 5.4” backspacing and I’m very close! However I have never rubbed the wheel or tire. The tire just can’t buldge out over the rim. 19” wheels barely clear your spring with an aggressive backspace
The fronts are slightly more forgiving. I went with an 18 x 10.5 wheel with 4.9 inch back spacing and I flared the fenders. You could probably fit a 9.5 inch wheels all around and not have to flare your fenders. I hope this helps! Good luck

The car you have pictured is flared.
If you relocate the handbrake cable on the trailing arm then there is no advantage in terms of wheel clearance with offset trailing arms if you have 17"+ wheels - the tyre will hit the chassis before the trailing arm. You may also need to remove or modify the rear sway bar (if fitted) and shorten the rear spring in order to maximize backspace. I have done this (relocated handbrake cable, shortened rear spring, rebent rear sway bar) on my '79.
I run 17x9.5 wheels with 5.05" backspace and 285/40R17on the street, no problems at all except slight rubbing on the frame at full lock on the front. On the track I run 18x10 wheels with 5.54" effective backspace and 295/30r18 semi slicks. These restrict steering lock at the front, probably not great for street use, no problem on the back though. A 295/35R18 is a better diameter, just more expensive tyres - a greater consideration for track use.
There's pictures of my car/wheels if you do a search through this thread with my username. I could go a little wider still - my wheels are well within the arches - but both wheels and tyres increase dramatically in price to go wider than this.

thank you! on researching I found that they are most likely American racing 200s daisy's! apparently the newer ones are painted center or polished, mine appear to be late 60's early 70's as im reading that the magnesium alloy in the unpolished center turns a goldish color with age. and mid 80;s they started painting and powder coating the centers. I looked at some new daisy 200s rims and they all say painted center or polished though its unknown if you can still the buy the untreated center ones that will turn gold. just a fun fact I was able to learn from you guys! thank you again.

These are the before and after pictures of our 69. The first picture was the day I got her home and the others are after a treatment of Zanio and upgrading the wheels and tires. The new wheels are from American Racing and the tires are 225/70R15 BFG Radial TA. I can't tell you how much the tires improved the ride and drive of the car, was is unbelievable and I love the look.
