Default power antenna

MY power antenna gets stuck about the half way point going up and down i have to help it. My father inlaw said something about just replacing the mast, since nowadays you have to buy a universal power assembly that doesn't exaclty replace the original. Is it true I can just remove the mast and replace that? If so how do i remove just the mast portion?

I used one of the mast for my 79 from this place, its not too hard, it comes with detailed instructions and if you get in a bind you can call them.... reasonably priced$$, took about 4 days to ship to Tex.

If the mast is in good shape and the antenna motor still makes noise. Just pick up the rebuild kit. It's easy to install the rod that drives the antenna up and down.

a factory option was a CB radio ( pre cell phone days) that used the radio antenna to broadcast with. most cars dont have it, i used the without one. works great..
