Default Pilkington Windshield dates

I'm getting ready to order my windshield from Pilkington and was wondering about the windshield date ranges for 1971 Vettes.
Was the windshield coded for the month it was put in or the month it was manufactured? Could a 71 have a windshield that was dated say, six months off? Not sure what date to order because mine is not there.

Would the side glass and windshield be different dates? I would think the manufacture just had a stock of glass and used it as needed not worrying about dates.

Hi Kevin,
The windshield date was when it was manufactured and would often be a month or two or even more prior to the car's build date.
On my 71 built in mid-January 1971 the windshield is dated VT which decodes as December 1970.
The side glass can certainly have a different date than the windshield and even be different side to side and different than the rear glass on a coupe.
Regards,
Alan
