Default Does anyone know how long this should take?

We're going to have a new front suspension kit installed and I'm wondering about how long that job should take to complete.

That all depends on how thorough of a job you're doing, and what all is in the "kit."

If you're going to sandblast, clean and paint all of the suspension components as part of the rebuild, the job could take a couple of days. If you're simply dropping the front end, knocking all the bushings and ball joints out of it and pressing in new stuff with new replacement tie rods and idler arm, you can do the whole job in about 6 hours, assuming you're using a lift and have good/proper power tools. Add to that time the cost for an alignment, and you're up in the 10-hour range for labor. At common shop rates of $75 - 100/hour, you're looking at $750-1000 for labor plus parts, if you're paying someone to do it.

Thank you Lars. Yes, we are having someone do it, he's a good mechanic but not in a big car lot shop. He is in a smaller shop so labor is a bit cheaper and he does have a lift/power tools etc. We aren't planning to go the whole rebuild route right now so it will just be dropping the front end and replacing parts while he has it up on the lift.
