Default ARH 304SS Small block headers

Anyone have a set of these on your car?

I've been wanting to buy a set of stainless side pipes but I'm freaked out by the poor quality of the tubing. I'm thinking maybe I'll buy a set of regular headers instead? These ARH headers look pretty good.

I want a set of stainless headers because I like the way they turn a nice gold color after a few heat cycles. Plus they'll last forever.

I am currently working with AR headers on a set for my LS swap. I have been to their facility twice and the level of workmanship is excellent. Their welds are great and the quality control is very good. Go over to the C5 and C6 boards and see how many guys there are running AR headers. Lots of them. They are not cheap but quality never is.

I sent Nick an email earlier today. I might give them a call tomorrow and price some out. I know Nick from his Oldsmobile days, he has a 9 second Olds powered 64 Cutlass.

I called this morning for pricing.

1 3/4" primary tubes
3" spiked merge collector
Ball/socket collector
2 1/2" stainless exhaust tubing through the cross member
AMERICAN 304SS material
O2 sensor bungs

$1175 plus shipping.

These sound like super nice headers!

Opinions?

I wish they would make sidepipes for about that much.

I agree, but even Hooker stainless side pipes are $1500 without mufflers. If ARH made a set of side pipes for $1999 I'd probably buy them just knowing the pipes are made from quality materials!

I'd be good with $1500 for sidepipe headers and side tubes. Mufflers can be bought at many vendors, so not worried about them. $2000 is too much to be competitive.

Sounds like a decent set of headers, what's the flange thickness?

Yeah they make nice stuff. If you don't mind the rear exit exhaust, go for a set of their straight back headers. But, if you really want sidepipes, I don't thing that you should settle for a straight back system. Just my thoughts on it...

Yeah, I want side pipes but I'm not eager to buy the crap that's available. I don't know maybe the Hookers would be OK? I'm definitely not buying the, the OBX and XS Chinese pipes.

Yeah, I talked to SummitRacing this morning about the Hooker stainless sidepipes. He tried calling Holley with some questions for me about the Hookers; where they are made, grade of stainless, and if the materials are from US mills. There was a long wait time, so the Summit rep is going to give me a call back.

It'll be interesting to hear what they say! I sent Hooker an email last week asking about the stainless. I never got a reply.

I replied to you over in the sidepipe thread in the General section.

3/8" is sure better than a 1\4" for sure. With the headers, youd want to either get them jet hot or ceramic coated.

Wow, those headers are gorgeous!

I ordered the stainless Hooker side pipes this morning, so I guess that's that. I plan to leave them natural because I like the look of the gold pipes after they go through a few heat cycles. I'll have to get some side pipe shields to keep from frying ankles, ceramic coating would probably eliminate the need for that.
