I just received the "Body lift kit" that I ordered from CC, looks like a D ring with 4 straps and hooks at the end of each strap. This came of course with no instructions or any indications of the lift points to use on the body.
It's a 69 coupe with no front fiberglass, interior removed, and just about everything removable off.
Has anybody here used one of the kits I'm talking about?
Any ideas where to use the hooks? I was thinking of where the body mounts are, but how do they secure?

Just used the stame strap kit to pull the body off of my 70. The hooks go on the birdcage at the front & back of the doors. You may need to adjust the position to get the body balance. Here's a pic of what I did. Hope its not to large. [
I don't know about that kit. Most of us that have removed our bodies have run straps all the way under the bodies. I would be afraid to hook to anything under the body. It would seem that you might spread something. Then you would have some big issues when it comes time to line the body back onto the frame mount points.
May I suggest that placing hooks under that body seam just outside the main frame is as good as any place, and hooking up a bit in the rear section would help also....with a cherry picker, and a few tie downs it's no big deal....
NOW IF you have the front fenders/etc in place, that could be a big deal depending on the glue/glass/steel condition...and weight on the nose....
gotta lighten that nose...not much on the door jamb area to hold it together...and if there is rust,....make that NOTHING....
My nose seemed a bit flexible as I was getting prepared. That's why I added the strap arround the radiator support. Just a little tension on the strap & everything lifted straight up. I also added a support to the dolley in the rear to hold up the tail. With a convertible the rear flexes down a lot. The support uprights wer cut to size once the body was off. I can even open & close the doors. :)
i made my own setup when i did mine and went all the way around the body like a cradle..i was afraid of just the outter edges,my body wasnt in the greatest of shape so i didnt take the chance.
