Rebuilt Trans now have fast idle.
Trans broke
82 Crossfire now has a 700R4 rebuilt trans,,, pump, seals tourque convt. only has 36k and pump broke.
Had trans rebuilt, now Idle is running a 1k and it feels like if you let your foot off the brakes that you start moving into the car in front. I never had any idle issues, period. Now the Corvette Specialist say that my IAC need replacing. Is this coincidental, or is the trans relaying a fast idle due to the T.V. cable. Or TC solinoid bad. I insist that they look at that but they feel it is not the problem. Even the down shifts feel wrong, but that may be part of the fast idle. Any one with a paticular issue or Idea?

They insist that it's the IACs idle air controls. I plainly said that the car ran perfect idled excellent (especially for a crossfire) before the trans repair, I said that the TV cable needs to get adjusted and they said that it has no effect on idle speed so they dropped the trans to make sure the torque converter was the correct one. Now I need to drop $450. for 2 IACs... I have a feeling the so solenoid for the torque converter lockup are bad or the TV just saying... Thanks for your reply as I am on the TV cable idea as well, but the car is at a Corvette Specialist shop so called out of my hands for now. I'll keep you in the loop on this vetters.
Thanks

The TV cable COULD affect throttle...if it is not adjusted properly.
Also, there might be some sensor problem (poor connection...NO connection) which is making the ECM believe it should be in 'start-up' mode all the time.
Lastly, it could just be coincidence that you had some sensor failure at the same time as the trans repair.
What does the OBD system indicate? Any ECM faults recorded?

I told them to check the oil pressure since the pump and converter were both replaced, and they said nothing in that response of pressures or the effect on if it would effect the idle. I have a gut feeling that a valve spring or check ball is not responding and is blowing past and freeking out the TC solinoid, or fried it out. But then the car wouldnt run, correct?
Anyway,
The ECM has no code (yet) drove it near 75 miles thinking that the IAC's will sink up since the battery was disconnected for a few days, and hopping that maybe sink up after driving a bit. but, Not...
You got me on the OBD, is that an on board diagnostic?

Yes, OBD is on-board diagnostic system. It was built into the CrossFire ECM. If you have any sensors going bad, that should cause a trouble code to be logged into the ECM.
Does your check-engine light (CEL) come on when you turn ignition key to ACC position (prior to starting the engine)? And, does it go out when the engine is started? Those two things should happen if your ECM system is still working properly.

If the T/C lockup solenoid is bad, your trans will not go into Lockup mode. Lockup is when sections of the torque converter are mechanically joined when the lockup clutch is engaged. It makes the converter a 'direct drive' system when engaged. This increases fuel efficiency by eliminating the fluid coupling losses in the torque converter when at steady speed.
This would have nothing to do with your idle problem.
