Phenolic spacer on a factory manifold
I'd like to put a .5 inch phenolic spacer on my LT-1 manifold to help insulate the carb. The Summit catalog states that you can't put one of these on a factory exhaust crossover manifold (I guess it would melt the phenolic).
Would it work if I put those metal block off plates in the manifold gaskets? I also have my heat riser wired open.
I don't think an aluminum spacer would do much insulating.

That is a Holley carburetor, correct? Take a look at Edelbrock item 8723. It can take the heat. My company manufactures this item in Seattle, so it is made in the USA.

beware, you may not have the clearance under the hood for that extra .5 inch height.
I used a .25 inch and it solved my carb percolation problems and I did remove my heat riser valve. My carb is cool to the touch even after a long trip whereas before I could hear my gas boiling away after shutdown resulting on harder starting due to having to fill the float bowls first.
