I think the driver was Dave Heinz. I remember seeing it at Sebring as a child; When Sebring was a race, not a show. It and the Greenwood cars got me hooked on Vettes. To watch that thing THUNDER down the runways took my breath away :yesnod: . This is what I tell ricers...You don't fast.

The 57 car is owned by Mike Yager of Mid America and is one of my favorite C3's, you can go to their web site and see it at Mikes Garage. I saw it just after the restoration was completed at Cypress Gardens, they backed it out of the trailer and fired it up and I had an orgasm, it is an awesome car! :jester

I found this site the other day - http://www.motorracingretro.i12.com/

This area in particular seems to be C3 rich - http://www.motorracingretro.i12.com/seventies02.htm

Back in the spring I was at the NCM and this car was on display.

I considered myself lucky to see this car in person.

It was awesome.

Interesting thread. I'm busy scanning an article that may interest you guys.
How about a race including the following names?

Jerry Thompson
Allan Barker
Dick Durant
John Putnam
Fred Brandt
Bill Morrison
Herb Caplan
Fred Thompson
Bud Willner
John Paul
Tony De Lorenzo
Bob Gray
Jim Glazier
Dave Dooley
Alex Cameron
Marv Shoenfeld
Cliff Gottlob
Doug Hooper
Don Yenko
Gerry Gregory
Rich Sloma

Lots of photos of men and machines.

If you remember A.R.R.C. races at Daytona in the late 60s / early 70s, watch for another [REPRINT] OUR CORVETTE HERITAGE thread very soon.

Great car, but I believe that it's not the Dave Heinz / Don Yenko car referred to above.

I have been planning on restoring this racer for 20 years but have moved on to other projects. It will take someone who loves Sub-Lime green to restore it. I beleave it also ran Trans Am and IMSA.

It was the North Pacific Champ from 69 to about 74 in B production.
Currently its a roller that needs everything.
