3 point seat belt conversion
Well after 6 weeks of constant searching I have replaced my totaled 1975 with a1973 now I have some up grades to do. The interior is in very good condition but only has lap belts after being in a violent crash and not getting hurt you realize how important seat belts are. So my question is can I install 3 point seat belts in a vette that came with only lap belts?

Does your car have the shoulder strap brace in place (don't know if they all had the bracket on only when the belts were actually added)
You should be able to see it in the wheel-well
That's the bolt sticking through in the image, hopefully you're has the plate with the nut.
Here's a F-body belt conversion thread

If you're doesn't have the reinforcement plate you'll have to add something.

My 73 coupe came with the lap and shoulder belts which I thought were standard for 73 coupes and not a factory option.
My understanding is that the shoulder harness was a factory option for the 73 convertibles and that the factory mounting brackets for the shoulder harnesses were installed on all 73 coupes and convertibles.

If you upgrade to the shoulder belts, you might as well go with the 3-point systems, where the retractor still mounts to the rear quarter, but the belt is one single length from the retractor to the rocker anchor, routed through the sliding latch plate. This eliminates the need for the key-slotted connection between the lap and shoulder belts in the stock system.
Very convenient, comfortable, and no more dangling lap belts on the floor.

Do you want to do a conversion or do you want to add stock shoulder belts? I added stock shoulder belts to my 69 convertible. The mounting plates were already installed on the sides of the rear wheel tubs and had plastic screw-in plugs. So, unless they changed how they did things at the factory between 69 and 73, you should already have the mounting plates and will be able to add stock shoulder belts. The fun part is finding a decent donor set of belts and then having them refurbished. $$$$$

Will the OEM shoulder harnesses work with the OP’s seats?
The OEM shoulder harnesses actually go thru the seats on my 73 and connect to the lap belt as a separate belt.

Great price when you consider factory style replacements are more.
I noticed that the 4 point system is the same price as the 3 point system. Why not go with the 4 point?
Is it related to the rear attachment location?
Thanks
Dennis

I used the read seat belts out of 97-02 firebird/Camaro. Cost $20.00 bolted right in.

Im in the process of doing the same thing. I just installed drivers side belt from a set of camaro rears. I had a nice set of lap belts so I transfered over the nicer metal buckle and receiver from the lap belts. One interesting complication, my seats dont have holes for the belt to pass through. I will add that soon. The trim panel that covers the area does not have a seat belt hole so I will need to cut that too. Basically I will need to pull the buckle off again when the seat back pass through trim and hole in the quarter trim are done. Until then the driver has a real seat belt. it retracts and buckles nicely. The camaro buckles did look out of place glad I switched those.

Greengear makes an important point. To use the 1997-2002 Camaro rear seat belts, you need to either (1) pass the shoulder belt through the seat [if it has the provisions] or (2) mount a seat belt guide to the outside edge of your seats so the shoulder belt stays in place.
In my 1970, the seat frames did not have the shoulder belt holes, so I secured small plastic seat belt guides to the top of the backs, it looked good and worked great. Obviously the guides need to be screwed into the metal seatback frame.
