Default Trailing Arm Bushings

What's involved in replacing these bastages? Supposedly the poly bushings can be installed without removing the arms from the car, but I don't see how you could drill/cut out the old bushings without having the arm off. Has anyone here ever done a t-arm bushing replacement without pulling them off?

note to self, buy a service manual :D

It can be done but you end up pulling off a lot of stuff still. You have to jack it up. Relieve the tension from the leaf spring. remove the shock, remove the caliper but no need to disconect the brake line. parking brake cable should be disconnected also. strut rod can be disconnected from either end. What you leave on is the half shafts and the lower shock mounts.

I'm sure it has or can be done but you will still have to unbolt some things to get it to move out of the frame pocket. IMO you have to remove the T-arms from the car to change the bushings, it will make it easier to replace them. To get em out you will have to remove the bolts at the frame pocket at the bushing, unbolt the spring mount at the rear of the t-arm, remove the shock mount, and unbolt the half-shaft. Not a real tough job just cumbersome. Couple things to watch out for is rusty bolts and shock mount, some guys have had to cut the bushing bolt to get the t-arms out. If you use poly you will not need to remove the old sleeves just the rubber, however it will depend on the condition. The poly ones I put in did not come with retainers but when you put the shims in there shouldn't be any movement to speak of.

Good luck
