Default Fuel Leak

I have just imported my 77 Vette but after refuelling there's a leak at the rear above right muffler. It will only leak when the engine is started. Has anyone got ideas about where the leak might be coming from. Thanks

Sounds like one of the fuel hoses that join the steel line to the tank has a leak. Probably the return hose.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Is this a case of dropping the fuel tank? Or is there an easier method? Thanks.

I would drop the fuel tank, and replace both hoses while there.

Look at it carefully. You may be able to access the hose by reaching around or loosening the muffler. Probably easier than dropping the tank.
Good luck.

The fuel lines run up on top of the tank and are really hard to get to UNLESS you either remove the rear bumper cover...or drop the fuel tank and then install...which is NOT FUN.

You might get lucky and drop the fuel tank down enough so you can reach through the fuel filler area and remove and install new hose and then run them over to the passenger side and connect them to the fuel lines.

Further to my earlier fuel leak. Have been unable to drop or fuel tank or remove bumper due to shoulder op. However, it prep for this I bought replacement hose and pumped out as much fuel as possible. I had to then move the car and expected more fuel all over the drive way but this time not a drop came out? Could this mean something else to the hose leaking or not? cheers. Simon
