Default Street Demon 1901..Any good ??

Gooday friends,
Well, I'm totally over my QJet.
No one here can or will touch it !!!!
So here's the Billion dollar question....
What's a good replacement ????
Car is '74 350 4 speed.....just cruising.. no racing.
I like the look & price of the Street Demon 1901.
Pros or Cons to the Demon ???
Got a Christmas bonus coming so will have a few pennies to spend.
Any suggestions welcomed.
I'm in Australia and that can make it difficult to get some stuff.
Take care,
Gavin.

There are a couple of guys over at digital corvettes using them and they are quite pleased. They are an interesting carb, hard not to remember the old Thermoquads but hopefully someone on here will comment who actually has one.

I had just purchased my 73 w/ pretty much stock L82 350-
basically to drive the Hot Rod Power Tour this past summer. Rather than try a rebuilt Quad-as mine the fuel filter fitting was stripped out and was about $70 just to fix that-I decided to try the Demon- it had some great reviews.

I bolted it on and the next week drove a grand total of 2900 miles and have put another 1800+ miles on it since June.

I gotta tell you it has performed flawlessly!!! I have 3.55 gears with the original M21 4 speed and was able to see a consistent 14-15 MPG running 3000-3200 RPM on the highway. One push on the throttle and it starts immediately- EVERY time (the car DID sit for almost a week). I also went w/ the Crane electronic ignition at the same time I put on the carb- it idles at 750 RPM w/o any fluctuation. I've never had a vapor lock issue- even after I sat in traffic for well over an hour at one of the venues in West Virginia.

The Demon bolted right on- has enough vacuum ports and hooked up to the stock throttle bracket w/ just a slight bend. I did have to run a wire to the fusebox for the electric choke.

I've been very happy w/ it.

Richard

I had a speed demon and liked it, you will want to have heat shield under it and they are nice carbs. now mine was not gas friendly in any way but it was easily tuneable and gave great performance i think it was an 850cfm

I put one on my old truck about 1.5 years ago.

Bolted it on, all I had to adjust was the idle down about a 1/8 of a turn.

A couple of things I like about the carb is how easy it starts no matter what the temperature is outside you only have to hit the key once and it is running, even if the truck has sit for a couple of weeks.

Another plus is the main body is one piece, so no more leaky gaskets.
Buy the one with the phenolic body, it does help in hot temperatures.

You will need to buy the adapters to put the throttle cable on.
Check the Demon website, there is a users manual that will give you the part number of what adapters are needed.

Thanks for the replies.
The more I read about this carb, the more I like it.
Definitely the front runner ATM.
Happy Thanksgiving.
