more 69 wiring ?
There are 3 connectors on the actual steering column. The one on the bottom/closet to the floor of the car (long and flat looks like a harmonica )is for your horn and turn signals.
The 2 other connectors go to your ignition switch which is actually on top of the steering column (about 180 degrees away on the other side of the column body). The ignition switch is bolted to the column and has the wire linkage going to it that gets actuated when you move the keylock cyclinder.
1) One ignition connector has a big red wire going to it (i believe its by itself in the connector at the ignition switch) That comes in from the ignition harness on the firewall. It leads over to the horn relay. It originates from the horn relay on the connector that has a black and orange wire crimped to it and then the red wire comes off the fuseable link (black cylinder connected to the black wire).
2) Alternator is another wire at the horn relay (single big red wire on its own).
3) A third red wire is at the horn relay and that comes over from the starter via another fuseable link ... this is the wire that brings battery voltage over to the horn relay for all the other wires above.
So...... the wire mentioned as number one above is the red wire that comes into the car... it goes to the connector on the ignition switch (top of steering column) the switch applies power to other pins on the ignition switch which in turn feeds the fuse panel and the coil etc.
The second connector on the ignition switch has a pink wire that goes back out through the firewall and turns into a cloth wrapped wire (yellow red blue) this is the resistor wire that feeds your coil (reduces the coil voltage to like 9vs I belive so as not to burn up the coil). Many times the wire is kinda stiff due to the cloth being heated and becoming brittle. Connected to that cloth wire (at the coil) at the same crimp is a yellow wire that goes down to the starter to provide 12v when the car is cranking so you have a hotter ignition only at cranking time.

GM messed up and switched the locations of the COIL wire going to the bulkhead fitting connector and the TEMPERATURE SENSOR for your temp gauge. Or at least in my old AIM is wrong along with my laminated wiring diagram.

I discovered this when I re wired my harness to remove the resistor wire and replace it with regular wire for an HEI Mallory unit.
I think the Op was looking at the direction / horn connector thinking it was the ignition connectors. Just a guess.

And why I mentioned it. It is dealing with the coil wire to the ignition switch...ad if using the wiring diagram...they do not connect correctly....and makes NO Sense.
