Need Pictures of Original Rear Carpet Sets 1968-1977
Hi Everyone-
In our quest to make the rear carpet sections as original as possible, I need your help. If you have a 1968-1977 (Coupe or Conv.) with original carpet in it, we'd like to see the rear T section of your carpet.
It must be the original carpet in the car.
We already have 68-69 nailed down, and we feel sure we have 70-73 as well. We just want to verify what we have is correct all the way up to 1977. Please post your pictures here.
The main area of concern is the T section.
For Example:
We know this is correct for 1968-1969, does it match yours?
Here is another example
72 original T was exactly like this one.

Hi Ernie,
71 coupe.
Regards,
Alan
It would be wonderful if you could do something about the back of the carpet.
Left: bulkhead behind seats… no extra backing 'material'.
Center: backing on remainder of carpet.
Right: backing on repro carpet.
71 coupe.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan-
That confirms 71 for sure.
I'm am aware of the difference in the backing, the rear riser had the odd "no backing" carpet and the rest was backed, but of a different material than what is used today.
I don't think there is anything we can do about that. It's not been turning up as a installation issue for us either and the changes to the rear sets that have been made so far have proven to be very successful.

Rear carpet
Would be nice if you could just purchase the rear carpet. When I bought my 71 coupe the front passenger & drivers side were replaced, but the rear is some sort of rag. Can you just purchase the rear or is it sold as a set?

Yes... Rear carpet sets are not a problem, they are not on the site though.
A new rear set for your car is $165.00 and to order you'd have to call it in to sales at 800-588-3883.

Hi Alan-
I sell three different brands Alan, but in my shop I only install ACC... (That should tell you something right there...
My least favorite is pro-choice.... The blue 69 we were working on last week had a set someone installed in it and boy it was a mess. The passenger side front floor pan carpet was completely molded incorrectly for a 4speed car and the rear set was completely wrong.
Over the years, I've had very few issues with ACC product. I've been a dealer for them since the 1970's when it was owned by Jack Holland. They have always gone out of the way to help me in the past so they seemed like the logical candidate for trying to resolve issues.
My goal when we started doing this was to work hand in hand with them, in a joint effort to resolve the issues that were/are present. The end result should make it better for everyone.

I sure wish I had known the ACC product is superior. I bought a Performance Choice carpet set from you a while back (year or more, maybe two) and finally got around to installing it last week. Lets just say... I hope your ears weren't burning too badly.
I guess you get what you pay for. I'll probably change it out to a better fitting carpet set in the near future when I re-dye the interior parts.

Revi-
Wow.. thank you.. I wasn't expecting that for a 1970. My LT1 had the carpet replaced in it years ago before I got it.... it has the wrong T piece in it.
But.. I still need confirmation that coupe and conv. (I'm a conv). were the same.
Paul Coury.. if you are watching this please contact Tommy tomorrow.

Is the Performance Choice carpet set the same as Pro-Choice?

I'm sorry. Maybe a more informed public will make things better for everyone... that's my goal

Hi Ernie,
I'm fairly confident that the 70 coupe and convertible rear carpet were different.
The convertible carpet didn't/couldn't extend up as high above the 3 rubber plugs as Revi's coupe carpet shows because of the astro-vent placement on convertibles. I believe at times the bulkhead carpet was perhaps even trimmed by hand and unbound in that area.
Regards,
Alan

We show the 70 conv having the dip on the ears... But it might not be correct. Everything else I see points toward it looking like the 68-69 posted above and the same as the coupe posted above. Just need confirmation one way or the other. My 70 doesn't have the original in it and it's the big T boxed looking thing we know is not correct.

Hi Ernie,
The 70 convertible I have to reference has the top of the bulkhead carpet cut down to about 1 1/2" above the holes for the rubber plugs. Once it gets past the Astro hardware on each side the upper edge raises back up and the edge is bound.
It looks to me like they took Revi's coupe's carpet and cut it out as I described.
Regards,
Alan
