SBC 427 and 69 GM corvette side pipes.
I'm thinking about installing my 69 GM Corvette side pipes in my 69 Coupe with my sbc 427
What headers will be best to use? (I assume it is shorty)
I have a set of 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 in stock, but they are long tube.
My side pipes is for a BBC 427, so I have to do some cutting in the sides pipes.

You can also get them in coated.

I've been using these for about 30 years with no problems.

Yes, I installed 69 side pipes on my '70 in 1972. A short time after I installed headers (Thrush Nickle Plated) for "stock" GM side pipe hookup.
Eventually those headers rusted out, I then installed the Hedman ones. Hedman's fit/angle is made for stock 69 style hookup.
You do need to cut/weld the collectors to the side exhaust mufflers.
I found it easier to cut the 69 mufflers just ahead of the inlet to the muffler and have a pipe made to run from the header collector to the muffler. I used 2 1/4" pipe for that piece.

Do you think I will get in to problems with angled heads/plugs?
That is a huge difference going from black to ceramic coated

As cuisinartvette has stated, 1-5/8 is on the small size for a 427. However, it depends how you intend to use your 427. If you are looking for a good "driver" with lots of torque, then they would be fine.
If you want all out performance from the 427, then larger tubes would better. (More squeeze on the angle plugs)
The real issue is the stock '69 side exhaust mufflers. They are very restrictive. I believe they actually restrict down to 1 3/4" at the inlet.
Sweet Thunder would take care of the restrictions in the muffler.

I have no experience with angle plug heads and Hedman headers. You might have to use a short spark plug.

I'll second the restrictive comment about the factory GM sidepipes. Also the shorty Hedmans arent the best designed header. I take it you want to keep the factory sidepipe covers? So why dont you think about headers from someone like Stahl (they are being made again now I believe) get a length of 3" pipe with a turn down, get the spiral baffle from somewhere like Speedway take it to a good exhaust shop and have them connect the pipes to the headers. If you have spent all the money on a nice 427 small block...it will need to breath..wont do that with hedmans and factory sidepipes.

I had Allen's Stainless exhaust fab up a set of C2 chambered pipes with the 69 style retangular turnouts. Looks like stock 69 side pipes until I start the car, then it sounds like a 67!
