Duntov Turbo. Saw one last night.
Went down to Woodward Ave. with a bunch of other forum members to the Dream Cruise 'practice session'. After dinner and a quick lap alogn Woodward we parked at the 'prime' parking spot. LOTS of cars of all shapes & sizes & years there. Saw this one (which should look familiar to many of us).
This is Duntov Turbo #3. Oliver's is #4. I mentioned that I knew a guy with a Duntov that was for sale. "Is it #4? Missing the turbo?" This guy knew more about Oliver's car than I did! :eek:
We invited him to join the forum, so maybe we'll be seeing him. The lines of the Duntov are awesome. Pics don't do the car justice. The widebody was done perfectly and it isn't an add-on kit (which I didn't realise).

i like everything about that car (never seen one in person) except that black strip at the back of the fenders. it looks so out of place. maybe it's just the pictures.

I'd think with a wide body like that it'd have wider tires/wheels.
I have 275/60R15 on mine... The ones on number 3 seem to be not that wide...

Spooky! I've just read the July 1991 Vette which has a write-up on the Duntov Turbo (only 37 made, crushed velvet interior, $45,000 list....) & those vertical black stripes on the rear don't look right. There were no pictures of those legs though :D

Those are the legs of the guy who owns the car. He was sitting there behind it.
He was talking about how many of them were made. He said that some reports say 26, some say as high as the 80s. But 'they' have never found a car that numbers higher than the teens, so they think the 26 number is probably close to correct.

The article I've read says that ACI planned to make 200 cars, but didn't due to lack of demand. Quote: "It is believed that only 37 (at most) ever went out of the door. As for Zora, well, he never did get his. His contract called for him to receive it after the first 100 were sold".
Whatever the true number is, it is a rare car :yesnod:

From C&D in 1980 - 'production number settled on was 201'. How many did they build? :confused: Who knows.

The number didn't even get close to the intended 201 because the car was just too expensive.. You could get a new Ferrari for the price of a Duntov Turbo in 1980!!!!
