Question for LS swap guys about A/C
Have any of you that have done an LS swap successfully installed a low mount A/C?
I think I've read all of the LS swap threads on here, and haven't seen anyone do it.
I live in Phoenix, so not having A/C isn't really an option.
I have an LQ9 with CNC ported 317 heads. So my plan is FI.
I want to go the "wallet friendly" route and do an LSA conversion.
In order to run the LSA accessories though I have to mount the A/C low because of the tensioners for the SC pulley.
And it seems that way with all twin screw or PD blowers even if I decided to go new.
If i go with a Centrifugal, most I've seen relocate the Alt. to the pass. side where the A/C would go.
Or am I just crazy and there's no way to make it work?
Any help on this would be great before I start placing and pulling the engine a hundred times trying to make it fit.

This might help. Check out the side port AC compressor.

I was going to use DD slider mounts, but they say you can't mount low A/C, and that thread just proved it.
It seems you can't use the holley mounts either. At least not on a Camaro.
I may have to get mounts made.
I looked all over CBM's site though and couldn't find the bracket. I'll have to message them.

To mount the compressor down low, you'll need to do some frame modifications. I have seen only a single example where this was done on a C3 and they had to cut and notch the frame pretty extensively. With the Holley bracket, if you have a side port compressor, it is nearly impossible to get fittings on the compressor. I had this set up but had to have someone weld me some custom aluminum lines. Once I swapped to a rear exit sanden compressor, everything became much easier.

Thanks Fleming.
I think at this point I'll just have to get to the point of test fitting and make my decision from there.
I contacted the company that makes the mount kit in the thread that Gary posted and they said they were redesigning it right now and would let me know when it's available.
Thanks for your help guys.
