Can't seem to find anything binding/loose or twisted with throttle and kick-down linkage, any suggestions? Believe trans has B&M stage-2 shift kit as it shifts and gets! Thanx,Al

Is the cable being pulled all the way at full throttle? If the carburetor has been replaced with a Holley or Edelbrock the cable adjustment could be way off.

Yup,gets full pull, orig Q-jet and linkage. Somebody mentioned v/body issues? Trans fluid is good and it up shifts great. 32,000 orig mile car. If I stomp, it at 45mph I get a downshift for a very short dist then, then bang hi gr. After 50mph nothing,no downshift.

You won't always get that downshift dependent on speed. As long as you can hear the Quadrajet Secondaries open then the operation is working correctly. I would try this. Get up to 35 mph. With a loose pedal. Then punch it. Should drop from 3 to 2. I doubt it'll drop to 1 at that speed. This is an excellent measure to protect your tranny. You could try around ~15 with a loose pedal and then punch it...

Yeah,I've tried every speed and pedal movement, the real problem is:whatever/whenever you get passing gr it short shifts, won't pull 6,000 rpm. Dunno if it's internal problem.Just can't see any outward movement issues. Might need a tranny expert? Hdal

Have you used the self adjuster on the throttle cable? I had the identical issue until I used the adjuster.
