Default Has anyone tried the LED headlights by JW Speaker

Tried searching the forum without any luck. These headlights from JW Speaker are DOT approved and have been getting great reviews. Yes, they are expensive but I've spent money foolishly before. If you tried, do you like them and did they fit without any modifications.

Not really a fan of their look, I would prefer using an aftermarket glass housing like others have done then use something like these

Correct me if I'm wrong but they look like they're about $250 apiece and you need 4. That may be beyond expensive. I know you don't have to change them as often but how long are you planning to live?

I'm not sure if I am going to try them in my Chevelle or Corvette but I should have these sitting on my front step when I get home from work today. I'll be interested to see how well they work.

I also purchased these cheap LED bulbs to try in an H4 housing I have for another project.

Not sure which will work better.

To the OPs question, I do not think the JW lights will fit in the current bucket due to the depth of the bulb. The factory style bulb tapers in immediately while those LED are squared off before beginning to taper.

Hey Eric-

I'd like to know how they work for you. I've been waiting for LED's that are not out of the stratosphere myself.

Currently I went w/ a set of nice glass Hella replaceable bulb housings and some inexpensive bulbs till the LED become reasonable.

Funny- I just bought a dozen LEDs for some of my can lights at home - and the best ones I found for the money -were the Cree brand as well. The had a much better mounting system- didn't look cheap and seem to be the closest to incandescent bulbs they replaced.

Let us know-

Richard

I think I got the set of 4 w/ bulbs for under $200.

Did have to modify the housing for the high beam-

Back of the high beam-

I used Cibie light units and they went straight in without any modifications required to the buckets. Not LED I know but well proven light units.

Graham

I have the truck version 7 led in my Harley and to coin a phrase they are like night and day. The best headlight i ever had in the bike

but I called them and they don't make 5 3/4 in headlights

have also had E code headlights in my harley and if you could find or buy e code shells you will be amazed at the the change in pattern will change your vision

you might want to look for an article Daniel Stern has on headlights it will put some light on the subject (ha)
i crack my self up

I do not like the LED bulbs from Amazon. I tried them temporarily in my Chevelle's Fesler housings. The light was certainly brighter when looking at it head-on but the pattern was definitely all over the place. I am not sure I would have been able to focus the headlights in a way that lit the road ahead of me and did not blind on-coming cars. It very much had that HID appearance, and not in a good way. I only tested it in the garage and did not actually take the car out on the road so maybe my opinion would have changed with real-world behind the wheel experience.

Outside of the fact that the bulb would not have fit in my Chevelle without cutting the core support, the actual bulb felt pretty hefty and seemed well enough built. The fan housing was just slightly too large to fit through the hole in the radiator support (the bucket was fine though). Not sure how these would work in the Corvette. Hopefully the other bulbs work a bit better, and fit without any issue.
