Has anyone bought one of these?
I am at a point where I have to purchase something and this seemed like a solid buy.....
https://www.corvetteupgrade.com/product/c3-l88-hood/
There are some that would say...."Just pull the trigger", well....I do not want to spend a ton of time fitting a hood......if the gaps are way off....it is not staying on the vehicle. Lots of compound curves on these and I have seen quite a few "duck bill" in the front......

Is the company just a fellow in his carport?
Is the part ready to ship or do I have to wait for production?
Does the company want some or all money up front for an item that must be produced, that way they have my money and can take a week or 9 months to make my part.
can I find several people with the same part from the same company all who are happy with company?
If the part is junk or I do not like it will the company be there for me.
I would never consider top dollar for an unfinished hood, I have never seen anyone offer their hood still needing all the inserts tapped, sounds like a great product up until that little issue lots of other good venders like Ecklers that offer them ready to bolt on but if you do not mind the marking drilling and tapping which seems like lots of extra work then sure pull that trigger.
Some would say I am now over the top in my apprehensions but I am sure legit companies will understand...

I got my L88 long hood from Vanacor, Fit and finish were fine. But Vanacor is now out of business. With any aftermarket product you will need to do finish work to get it to fit to your liking.

Some people buy a hood and it fits great and they go away thinking that will be the case for the next cat who buys the same hood they did and that is simply not the case,
I have heard a lot of good feedback about vanacors ( defunct ) and have heard and seen lots of good feedback on ecklers hoods
there notes on their hood should apply to any good fiberglass part...
http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1968-1972.html
I thought stinger supplied their glass I am checking into who Premier Quality Products is...
Okay called arnie of stinger great guy they do the fiberglass for ecklers so any questions on parts might be good to call him directly....

Thank you for your replies......
What I know is no two Corvettes were exactly the same.....so even a GM original may be off......BUT!- There are some hoods out there that are just no where near.....and that is what I am trying to avoid.
It also has a LOT to do with whether or not the front end was damaged.....
I have a no hit car so I am confident I will find something close.....
Not afraid of a little shaving here and there....(That's what she said...)

I don't know if this is something you want to do, but I plan on buying a used hood and putting an L88 scoop on it. I did the same thing to my C4 on the stock hood and it was much cheaper and turned out better.

After the horrible issues and nighmares I just went through I learned costly lessons that made me rather jaded, so I ask the questions,
Is the company just a fellow in his carport?
Is the part ready to ship or do I have to wait for production?
Does the company want some or all money up front for an item that must be produced, that way they have my money and can take a week or 9 months to make my part.

Burning Brakes
Ordered mine directly from ACI and had it delivered straight to the body shop doing body work and eventual paint. They were very pleased with how well it fit and didn't have to make any major adjustments other than align, sand, and prime. No paint on it yet, but it fits damn good!
