I have an intermittent Right Rear at-the-wheel brake fluid leak. The occasional leak comes down from it's Dust Shield, onto the Wheel Rim's edge, then onto the tire. A lowered rear compartment of the Master Brake Cylinder confirms that the leak is Brake Fluid.
It's weird. The outer and inner (as far as I can see it) Caliper is dry, as well as the Brake Line Fitting to the Caliper. And it's DRY now, and undetectable. Leaks about half a Reservoir compartment's worth of fluid in a 6 month period of almost every day driving.
I suppose I'll pull off the caliper and take a closer look. But just wondering if anyone else here had such an experience, and what they found to be the cause.
did you push the pistons in and take a close look at the dust boots on each piston?
I did reassemble them a few years ago. I guess it could be a bad seal in one of the inner Caliper Pistons. Why won't it leak constantly though? Perhaps after I remove the Caliper, it will become evident.
