Default BB L36 aluminum intake oil splash shield???

Getting ready to put back together my 454 this summer, but do need the oil splash shield that goes underneath the intake. If anyone has one for sale or know where I can purchase one, any info would be appreciated.
Thanks......Tom

I don't know if it's still available, but GM used to have a "splash shield" that fit in the lifter valley, that kept the splash from hitting the intake manifold. It was held in place by two tabs on each side, that located against the cylinder heads. There were also similar styles sold by the aftermarket....

Are you allowing the exhaust has to pass though? If not no big deal.

I know the Partplaceinc that sells repro's should have them.

GM Performance Parts 12555320

Remembering to trim the gasket a little helps ensure they seal

This is the stock 69 shield you are talking about. It is blind riveted on in the four holes you see in your manifold.

Appreciate the replies and the part# for the newer style shield. Located them on ebay, didn't know they were available. Also checked partpalceinc, but could not find on their website, would probably have to call them for info.
Looks like 12555320 may be the way to go......thanks again.....Tom

Yes, that is the shield, so far it seems hard to find. As mentioned above the newer style part may be the way to go.......

Yes, I took mine off to check under and found a crack where exhaust was leaking in. Not good....

YES, it is, because the shield the OP is referring to, keeps the heat of the engine oil, from hitting the bottom of the manifold....

The cast material was so brittle that when welded it started cracking up the side after cooling. The casting job was very poor with all kinds of defects and I doubt 45 years of heat cycles and exhaust flowing through it helped much either. I had to hunt up another manifold and they are getting expensive.

I went with the LS6 intake and Holley and couldn't use the 12555320 because it made contact.

I closed the exhaust crossover though so the manifold stays pretty cool.

I'm curious what they're going for since I have my original intake w/ heat shield boxed up in storage- if you don't mind saying.

I had to remove the one off my original LS-6 manifold to clear the roller lifters. I will look for it and see if it is the same for the oval port manifold. It should be. I know I still have the shield, just gotta put my hand on it. I will let you know.

Hi Les, I paid $550 for it. There were no marks or signs of wear or use and no repairs. It looked like it had never been on a motor.

Thanks. It sounds like you found a good one- not easy to do. Now I know that if times get tight I can sell mine and get a couple bags of groceries.
