Default Couple of questions about A/C removal on 71

I removed the compressor and plumbing of the A/C from my 71 sb vette. Now does anybody know, if I buy ac delete box, can I then remove condenser and change the heater core to non ac one?
Can I then change heater control unit inside the car with non ac one?
Are there any other changes that can or must be made?

Thank you very much for all your answers.

The cars had the heater as standard and a/c as an option. If you do away with both the a/c and heater then everything can be removed and the opening left in the firewall blocked with a plate.
To return to just the heater with the appearance of an original heater car will require the blower duct in the engine compartment and the heater box and ducts in the interior be changed heater only units.
You'd also then need to replace the a/c console control with the heater only console control.
The cut out in the firewall is larger for the a/c boxes than heater only boxes. I 'think' you'll have to do a bit of fiberglass repair on the firewall to successfully mount the 2 boxes and the heater core.
Without a/c you may also want to consider installing the astro-ventilation parts that bring fresh air through the car. A/c cars had this system blocked off.
So, a lot to consider in making this change especially if you don't want the engine compartment to look to butchered up.

Alan

Here's the heater only box on the interior side of the firewall.
With heater delete I mean blower motor housing like this one:

Or it would be better just to replace heater core and evaporator without other ac components and just use those? Although I don't know how that would work with the old heater control.

The simplest thing to do is just remove the compressor and condenser. The existing A/C system would then function as a heater and defroster. There is no need to open the A/C system to remove the evaporator.

That is what I was thinking. And using this:

And maybe change the controls on the dash!

Remove the evaporator too. That huge housing is the majority of the problem. I left the original heater core behind my AC Delete cover, although I don't have the hoses connected. Never really miss it.

AC Delete's cover uses the AC heater core. If you switch to a non-AC heater core, use a non-AC cover.

What is the best/easiest way to remove the AC compressor, but still leave the heater/defroster intact?
