Default Leaking speedo gear housing

I noticed a leaking coming from the speedo cable on my tci transmission the other day on my 79. So I removed the cable and bought a new housing and gear. The day after I replaced it. Still leaking. So I decided to just buy a TCI one and gear from Jegs. Installed it today. Went for drive and notice still a small leak. Is there any real tricks. Seems like it is the internal seals that are leaking.

Thanks Joey

Make sure it is clean around the O-ring.....that's what seals it.

There is an 'inner' O-ring and an 'outer' O-ring on that speedo gear housing. You should put some Vasoline or trans oil on the rings before installing them, otherwise they can get rolled or cut during installation.

Thank you. I will give that a try.

Thanks
