Check out the excellent Crossfire "Sticky" here on this forum! It includes an almost exhaustive list of related information. It has given me a couple of 'a-haa' rushes and a higher level of confidence about the technology in our cars.

Also, welcome to the C3 club.

I have a 82 as well.

Vacuum leaks are the scourge of these cars. Mine ran "okay" when I got it but after a few hours tracing and replacing hoses, my car runs very well and hold a steady 16.5 hg at idle.

For me, the main culprit was the headlight system and hoses leading into heat/ac-- which are on the same system.

Start there and see what happens.

No headlights?

That sounds like your disconnect. There is a main connect vacuum line on the rear of the engine.

No head lights and hi idle sounds like you may just have a hose disconnected?

See the arrows, especially where it says "T fitting. Checks these as it is the first connection from the engine to the lights vacuum source.

Mark the distributor on the base and a corisponding spot on the manifold. Then advance the timing. Turn the distributor counter clock wise a 1/4 inch and see if it improves. Even a massive vac leak the engine will still rev. It sounds like the timing is very far retarded or worst case , the timing chain could have skipped a tooth.
I'm assuming the fuel pump was installed correctly and fuel pressure is correct.

Ok, I'm going to say that you need to check your fuel pressure. If the timing is good then you may have fuel issues.

These CFI are notorious for fuel pressure being to low to run right. I put a 85-89 fuel pump in my tank and it was like a different car.

it sounds like you have been busy.https://1982corvette.shutterfly.com/...s:albumId=300i would replace fuel pump and check the wires .there also maybe a liner in there that is holding the arm of the sending unit .The idle speed tells me vac leak.
