Hopefully not to state the obvious, but you don't want positive camber if you're running radial tyres. Even for relaxed street use I would want 0-0.5 degrees neg camber, and I am running closer to 1.5 degrees neg camber.

Borgeson recommends more camber when using their steering conversion. Do you have the Borgeson steering box?

I've got the Jeep box, the one Borgeson starts with.

I was thinking that the ability to get more positive camber would make it possible to get more positive castor. Adjusting the upper arm so the upper ball joint is moved rearward, for example more shims in the rear and less shims in the front will give more positive castor. Do I understand this correctly? I don't want to end up with positive camber, just more adjustment. That's the reason I am trying the off-set shafts.

On my 71 I used the Moog Problem Solver off set upper A arm mounts. The car aligned perfectly with minimum shims. The car tracks great. 225 -15's

I also used them on the 72 - wound up with a lot more shims - but it's a 22k miles car. So the frame is probably straighter. 225 -15's

Rock Auto - for both, was shipped from a local warehouse and arrived in 2 days.. I was surprised.

I think you might be confusing camber and castor? Yes I have the Borgeson box.

Fair enough, sounds like you're on the right track. Just wanted to make sure!

If I were to change out these shafts on my A-Arms would I need to put in new bushings as well? With the motor in the car this sounds like a hassle job.. is it?

If you buy offset shaft kits they come with bushings. The offset arms come with bushings installed.

The passenger by the ac compressor is a pain. The a-arm can barely clear the stud in the front right side by the radiator shroud. Loosening the shroud helps move things around more. Use an 11/16 ratcheting wrench on the nuts on that side. You can't get a socket on that front one.

Sound like a hassle? Yes in a way. I replaced mine in about an hour and a half.

you say the Moog shafts come with bushings? so I can just take off the upper A-arm and swap out the shaft and bushings and then reinstall them. Putting back the spacers I took off...

ROCK AUTO HAS THEM, CALLED PROBLEM SOLVERS, GIVES AN ADDED 2 DEGREES.

The bushings are pressed in, can be done at home. but you must be careful not to bend the A arm.

There are good vids on you tube.

I asked the local shop how much, too easy to say here do it, and brought the arms to them. they are 1 block away.

I had mine removed and pressed in by a local shop for $25 each arm - they used a press and tool to remove / install the bushings. Did not even scratch the arms.
