Default Headlight vacuum actuator

I think my vacuum pods are on the wrong side. I've never taken them off and never really even looked at them. Headlights go up and down just fine but I just noticed the vacuum tube are doing a 180 degree bend when I took the hood off.

Hi D,
I believe you'll find that original and reproduction hoses are perhaps a little longer and have 90 degree bends formed in the end at the accuators.
Regards,
Alan

Since they work fine, I would suggest that you NEED to leave them alone. The mounting studs on those cans cannot withstand much force when removing the nuts; and it is a REAL PITA if you snap one or more off [of rusted nuts/studs] during disassembly. You can repair them, but not fun. And replacement is expensive.

Just be happy that they are doing the job without problems!

The routing is correct.....I just replaced all of the vacuum lines on a 76' and I think that is what you have there as it has the big tube can up front.
If I were you I would buy a bunch of hose and swap out all of the lines.....you can route yourself a much more gradual sweep to the can...that old hose is about collapsed.
Canisters run about $80 a piece......the vacuum relays about $50 each.....I do not recommend the cheap relays....some leak right out of the box.
Remember....a leaky headlight/wiper system can affect engine performance.
I replumbed the 76' in about 45 minutes with $20 worth of Vacuum hose and some zip ties.

OH COME ON ALAN!!!!! I thought that was your museum piece kept behind velvet ropes. That is incredible that its a driver! That just makes me so jealous. Ive been in love with your car even though ive only seen it one small portion at a time. I love how clean it is and how everything is in its place. I dont currently have any space, time or money to do that but maybe someday if I get another c3. Or maybe just dream of your car and buy a c2 coupe like my uncle had.......hmmmm. If I get that c2 then I could do a frame off of my 68 and still have a driver, yaaaaaaa thats the ticket.

I'm still jealous of your car though

Hi RR,
I twisted those words to seem to say something they REALLY don't.
Since I'm the original owner I've driven it those miles years ago…. 35,000 in the first year and a half…. another 10,000 in the next 20 years and only a couple of hundred more since!
I don't drive it anymore!
Regards,
Alan

Its still awesome and something I will strive for even though mine probably won't be as awesome as yours. You have the BEST pictures and an incredible car. I'll stop talking now. I sound like I'm in grade school
