Painting Calipers? or not
With the stock cast iron calipers, should they be left raw? Maybe use the same product that is used on the cast iron manifolds?
I was thinking that if you paint or powder coat the cast iron it will hold in the heat longer.
any thoughts

A friend of mine paints his air cooled Vintage Honda racing engines and has no problem......this may help you with the heat question.
He ran them naked prior to, with no discernable difference in temperature.

Melting Slicks
When I re did my brakes this last time, I sent the calipers to VB&P for new pistons and O rings, and while they had them I opted for powder coating. I was surprised how nice they looked when I got them back.
The calipers were already SS sleeved, so the rebuild was pretty inexpensive.

Others have already stated coating or painting is not an issue. I also have VBP powder coated calipers, I really doubt a reputable brake vendor would do anything to compromise their product. If you are still concerned, leave them bare. Surface corrosion won't hurt anything.

Had mine locally Powdercoated. No problem with overheating yet. Although they brake better than before now due to the new O-ring seal type. I used to have the lip seals.
BTW as seen in second picture, They are liquid cooled!!
