Default Looking For Better Small Hose Clamps

I'm fighting a small leak on the return hose, low pressure side, for my PS pump. It's getting annoying!! It' also in a very congested spot. I have two generic hose clamps on it now and it still leaks. Looking for better clamps. Any ideas??

I would say the hose is rotted or split, the clamp(s) are not the problem.....
If you replace the hose use hot oil rated hose, like for tranny coolers, and don't overtighten the clamps.

BTW, nice pic!!

I agree!
Cut off the top inch if you have enough slack or get a new hose.

you need the correct hose with the fitting if you replace it, see the link below

The end of your hose does look rather poor.

Still, a Gates Power Grip heat shrink clamp could work for you there.

Hose clamps with the screw/square nut will solve this issue. You can really tighten down on them.

If that's a wire reinforced hose from a Borgeson kit, good luck with it.

When I have to use 2 clamps I offset the screws 180 degrees

Hose is a Borgeson unit and it's in good shape. That's only some crud on the end, shown in the photo.

For low pressure hose, any hydraulic-capable hose will do, so you should just replace it. BUT...replace it with the CORRECT size hose for your system The hose I.D. must be a bit smaller than the tubing diameter of the fitting on which it will be placed (this does not include the added size of any protrusion on that tube fitting).

If the hose is too large for the fitting, IT WILL NOT SEAL...no matter which clamp you use nor how much you tighten it. Chances are that your old hose has expanded from years of oil and heat getting to it; so it will no longer seal to your pump fitting. I highly recommend that you replace the hose and NOT just cut off the end of it so you can re-use it.

I totally agree! It's the hose. Been there, done that.

Try to find clamps without the perforations. Central Tractor Supply has SS clamps similar to this:

I understand your issue. The hose Borg suppiled with that kit is rated for about 3000 psi and has a wire braid, which is fine (maybe overkill) for the pressure hose. That hose is not designed to be clamped with a hose clamp, it's made to have ends crimped on it like the end at the steering box. Others have had the same issue. I have heard that Borg now offers a low pressure hose, more appropriate for the return that is easier to install and get sealed. My son, Mr. Green has the same issue with with his install, I know because it was parked on my lift and my 75 stored under it for a winter. On mine I used a this and bent it 90 deg and clamped a length of power steering return hose to it and the pump return nipple.

This is not the final hose routing, but you can get the idea of the return pipe I used.
