Will a '73 auto exhaust fit with a 4-speed?
I'm thinking about converting my '73 auto to a 4-speed. Does anyone know if my exhaust will fit? It's basically brand new and I hate to replace it, but I'm trying to get a sense of all the parts I'll need to make the switch.
Thanks,
Jim

The catalog lists different part numbers for the auto and 4 speed, but I don't see why it won't fit. The 4 speed is a lot smaller than the auto. I didn't have to modify my exhaust when I converted from a 700R4 to a TKO 600.

I had a 75 system on my 79 for many years before returning it to stock. 4 speed.
Installed it on a friends 78 with automatic. Had to ding one of the pipes to clear the trans pan.
Seems then a system for an auto would have plenty of clearance for a 4 speed.
I BELIEVE a correct system for an auto one pipe goes through the trans crossmember on a slight angle.
I do know a front half system for a 4 speed won't meet up with a rear half for an automatic.
But the entire system should work.

That definitely works. In fact, the auto exhaust provides a little more clearance to the trans...
I am using an auto exhaust on my manual 72 because the manual exhaust was not available within the required timeframe!
